Prolong the Garden Season

Join award winning author Roger Marshall for a discussion about techniques and structures to grow flowers and vegetables all year round in New England. Marshall who lives in Jamestown grows organic vegetables and fruit year round in two greenhouses. But you do not need to have a greenhouse to grow fresh vegetables for your table. Marshall shows many techniques that he has perfected over some 40 years of gardening both in America and in England.

Science Behind the Garden Practice

For generations, gardeners pass down their successful practices. Some of these practices often appear to border on superstition, yet they’re passed from one generation to the next because they actually work. Bob Rafka, an Extension Master Gardener will discuss a number of time-honored gardening practices then attempt to explain the chemistry that makes them succeed.

Workshop is free with paid admission into the Botanical Center.*
