The Photo Contest continues. At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, Dennis Goulet of the Photographic Society of Rhode Island will give a talk which explores the art of photographing flowers and plants. Tailored for photographers shooting at the Botanical Center, it will feature different ways to take advantage of the unique opportunities available at the Center. You may still register for the contest, which includes a $500 best-in-show gift certificate from Hunt's Photo & Video among the awards. Get more information at www.bccrwp.org/events-and-news.
In addition to this 60 minute presentation, University of Rhode Island Master Gardeners will offer tours of the Botanical Center, provide free analysis of soil samples from visitors' gardens and answer questions. To obtain a soil sample, use a clean trowel and fill a zip-closed bag with about one cup soil which has been dried overnight. Limit is two bags per person. The Botanical Center opens at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
